Developments:
In the first nine months of its fiscal year, BTG's revenue more than doubled to $310 million. The two biggest factors contributing to the jump were new customers acquired through BTG's 1995 purchase of a Sterling computer company called Concept Automation Inc. and heavy orders through an online computer sales contract for government agencies. The contract is administered by the National Institutes of Health.

In October BTG and Sysorex Information Systems Inc. jointly received a contract to provide personal computers to the U.S. Army. The contract, one of the largest ever won by BTG, is expected to provide at least $200 million in sales over the next two years, Chairman Edward H. Bersoff said.

The company also received large contracts from the Tennessee Valley Authority, a power generating organization, and the Department of Transportation last year.

In August BTG formed a subsidiary called Community Networks Inc. that is working with cable-television companies to provide high-speed Internet access to homes and business. The subsidiary currently is working on a test project with several hundred homes in Loudoun County.

BTG recently moved into a new headquarters building in Fairfax.
