From the April 28, 1997 Washington Post
Description:
Cort continued to grow last year, acquiring three furniture rental companies, including one in New York. Cort plans to open three more office rental showrooms this year in Las Vegas; El Paso, Tex.; and Huntsville, Ala. The company also has entered the trade show market with the purchase of companies in Orlando, Las Vegas and Chicago that provide trade show furniture. An unsettled tax issue was resolved, with the company making a $1 million payment to the government. Cort went public in November 1995 and had another stock offering in July, raising an additional $30 million. The cash was used to purchase Evans Rents in Los Angeles for $27 million. The company will operate there as Cort/Evans.
