U.S. employees in Baghdad's Green Zone were recently sent e-mail alerts, obtained by The Washington Post, warning them against using the palace pool and notifying them that fresh fruit and vegetables would be limited.

SUBJECT: Outdoor Activity Restrictions

Due to the threat of indirect fire (IDF) against the Embassy compound, congregating outdoors is strictly prohibited until further notice. Consequently, the palace pool area is closed until further notice—this includes the chairs and lounges, outside dining area, ping-pong tables, etc.

The guidelines provided herein are intended to maximize safety and minimize the loss of life to Chief of Mission and Multi National Forces-Iraq personnel. Please, address all questions and concerns to the RSO Countermeasures Division at DSN 239-5141 / 4680 / 4722.
